Donate
With the help of monetary, volunteer and clothing donations Dartmouth Friends of the Elderly is able to bring in revenue that is used to help the seniors and veterans of this community. Because of the ongoing generosity we have been able to help many organizations and individuals, as well as the Dartmouth Council on Aging.
Highlighted Achievements:
Dartmouth YMCA Food Bank
Each year we have given the YMCA from $2,000-$5,000. Seniors in our community benefit from the fresh product grown at this location.
Veteran Support
We furnished one room at the Veteran's house on route 6 (State Road in Dartmouth).
Veteran Support
Donated money to the Veteran Transition House in New Bedford each year.
Ongoing Support to the Dartmouth Council on Aging:
Provided the custodian with a John Deere tractor and other equipment to keep the grounds in good condition.
Built garages to house the vans so they would be protected from the weather (GNBRVHS students built it and we paid for all materials).
Put new floors in at the DCOA building as well as helping with beautification of lobby.
Built new custodian's garage as well as the medical shed to house all medical equipment.
Built handicap ramp for the Dartmouth Adult Social Day clients.
Purchased electronic signage in front of building so residents are aware of what the COA is providing.
Purchased the signage inside the building that lists daily activities.
Purchased vans and cars for the COA. These vehicles are available to take people to doctor appointments and have been used for day care outings.
Paid to move the Dr. Bullard Wellness Center building to it's present location and paid for all material to make it a center to be used for health programs for the community (GNBRVHS students did all the inside work).
Many years ago, a historical building was saved by us moving it from Bliss Corner and adding it onto the COA building. The Social Day clients utilize this space.
Put a driveway in for clients to be dropped off where Daycare was located.
Support to the COA, infrastructure and programs.
